Come back in the Spring to meet all of our 2012 Summer Staff

Currently Viewing: 2012 Alameda Summer Staff

Amit Deutsch – Camp Director

This is Amit’s first year with Edventure More and his first year as a Camp Director, and he couldn’t be more excited. He has been working this year for Edventure More as an In-Class Science Presenter in schools around the Bay Area. He is also the curriculum writer for the new 2-D and 3-D Video Game Design class for Camp EdTech this summer. For the past three years, Amit has been working as a math and writing tutor as well as a piano teacher for youth of all ages. In the past he has worked as a summer camp Science Instructor…

I am so excited to take my camp experience, love of kids, passion for education and taste for fun to the next level with Camp Edmo and EdTech!”

Daniel Atkinson – Animation Instructor

Daniel originally hails from Minnesota but has been living and working in New York City for the past few years. Over the last year he has been in charge of exploring ways to integrate animation into the elementary art curriculum for the arts organization studio in a school. Before that, he could be seen teaching children and adults atthe Museum of the Moving Image and working with teens at the Museum of Modern Art. Daniel is super pumped to be in California for the summer, teaching animation and film making at Edventure More.

Zoey Gordon – Counselor

This is Zoey’s second summer working as an Animation counselor in Alameda. Zoey grew up in Alameda, and spent her summers attending day camps just like Edmo. She has always loved photography, making movies, and is excited to be counseling children and working with them on their animation projects. Zoey is majoring in film production at Chapman University, one of the nation’s premiere film schools and hopes to one day become a successful director. Her other interests include cooking and spending time outdoors. Zoey is looking forward to sharing her passion and enthusiasm for storytelling through movies with all the campers at Camp Edmo this summer.

I think the most rewarding part of being a counselor at Camp Edmo this summer will be to see the campers develop and explore their creativity.”

Abigail Alido – Counselor

It will be Abby’s first year at Camp Edmo and she is very excited to be on the team as a counselor. Abby is a junior in college pursuing a degree in Psychology and a minor in Education at UC Berkeley, working towards a career in clinical child psychology. Abby has volunteered in preschools and elementary schools as a teacher’s aide and tutoring students. She loves singing, especially karaoke, and acting. Abby enjoys going to new places, exploring and making adventures.

As a kid, I was always enrolled in summer camps so I am so excited and happy that I get to be a camp counselor this summer. After attending all those camps, I knew I wanted to be able to contribute to making other kids’ summers amazing and memorable, engaging in new adventures, and propelling their curiosity.”

Elizabeth Beato – Counselor

Lizzy is really excited to work at Camp Edmo for the first time this summer. She is currently a freshman and biological sciences major at Connecticut College. She was born and raised in Alameda, CA. She attended high school at Bishop O’Dowd where she was a member of the volleyball team. Lizzy enjoys community service and being outdoors, and can’t wait for camp this summer!
