2012 Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech Staff

Come back in the Spring to meet all of our 2012 Summer Staff

Currently Viewing: 2012 Burlingame Summer Staff

Melissa Birdwell-Marchi – Camp Director

This is Melissa’s second year with Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech! Having joined the Edventure More family in Fall of 2010 as an In Class Science Presenter, a Digital Photography instructor at Camp EdTech, a Naturalist at Edmo in the Park and the School Year Programs Manager, she brings a lot of “hands-on” experience to the Burlingame location. Melissa graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Intensive Sociology with an emphasis on Global Information Social Entrepreneurship Studies (GISES). She loves encouraging curiosity, kindness and confidence in every child that crosses her path. Melissa is already practicing singing camp songs every day in Edventure More’s office (which her co-workers are thrilled about) and is honored to rock the Edmo/EdTech vibe in Burlingame this summer! What an inspirational, magical and rewarding opportunity!

You can learn more about a person in an hour of play then in a year of conversation’ (Plato). I am so excited to get to know your campers while instilling a creative, imaginative, playful approach to learning that will follow them throughout their lives! I can’t wait to hear the ohs and ahs from learning so much fascinating material this summer! I have an EPIC summer planned full of friendship, fun activities, and wacky costumes for Burlingame. I am tickled to introduce your family to the extraordinary world of Edmo/EdTech!”

Mia Hiles – Art & Science Instructor

Mia will be joining Camp Edmo as our Burlingame Art and Science Instructor! She has been servicing the San Francisco Unified School District by combining arts with science and delivering “hands-on” lessons in K-12 classrooms. Mia graduated with a B.S. in Biology from San Francisco State University and will be entering the university’s Teacher Credential Program in the fall. Mia is ecstatic to work for Camp Edmo because she looks forward to making science fun for our campers, bringing out their wacky sides, and sparking their imaginations – all while learning and making long-lasting friendships. Mia loves all sorts of animals, being outdoors, trying new food, exploring new places, and meeting new people!

To engage, to inspire, and to educate are what I want to accomplish as an Instructor, and what better place to do so than at Camp Edmo?! With such a variety of outlets for the campers to express their knowledge and creativity, there is no way we’ll have anything but fun. I can’t wait to spend my summer with all the laughter, excitement, and imagination that your campers will bring with them this year! …Is it summer yet?”

Lindsay Kovnat – Animation Instructor

Lindsay is an animator and a certified art teacher that recently relocated to the Bay Area from Philadelphia, PA. Her background includes teaching stopmotion to children of all ages at a variety of after school programs and workshops. Lindsay has worked on multiple animation projects including music videos for the bands Manman and Mixel Pixel. Soon it will be time to open her bag of tricks and show her campers how to make their creative characters dance and sing and she can’t wait! She is really excited to have the opportunity to create magical animations with her campers this summer at Camp Edmo!
