Come back in the Spring to meet all of our 2012 Summer Staff

Currently Viewing: 2012 Palo Alto Summer Staff

Elizabeth Foggie – Camp Director

Elizabeth is joining Edventure More as Camp Director for the first year. She has over six years of experience working with children and is currently the Creative Curator for Be Social Change. Elizabeth graduated from Elon University with a BS in Biology and double major in Philosophy. She completed her first MA in Public Administration at Monterey Institute of International Studies and is pursuing a second MA in Women’s Spirituality at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Specializing in creative expression, she weaves her education and passions to find opportunities that create social impact.

As a social entrepreneur, Elizabeth is excited to spark young minds with a love of learning and self-expression. She believes the Edmo/EdTech experience is the future of education and is excited to contribute to its vision. It is a model for how fun learning can be! Elizabeth especially enjoys encouraging new possibilities and watching young minds bring new ideas to life. Elizabeth also loves practicing yoga, drinking tea, eating foreign foods, and dancing to Flamenco music in her room.

I can’t wait to see the students’ faces light up as they explore new ideas in the arts and sciences. I love any opportunity to bring innovation to education and to support learning among the Edmo and EdTech Palo Alto community.”

Colin Marchon – Animation Instructor

Colin Marchon is entering the Edventure More family for his first year as an Animation Instructor. Colin grew up in a half Irish, half French household in Palo Alto, California and graduated from Palo Alto High School. Currently earning a BFA in Film and Television Production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Colin has an unrelenting passion for all things movie related. He has spent the last two years spreading his love for film and animation through volunteer work at his high school and local media center and hopes to continue teaching in the future. In his free time Colin loves cooking, biking in the Palo Alto Bay Lands, and listening to music.

Marina Wang – Art Instructor

This is Marina’s first year teaching at Camp Edmo. Marina has been creating art as long as she can remember, practicing Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy since she was five. When enrolled in high school, Marina began to pursue a career as an artist. She always has been curious about the answer to a fundamental question “What is Art?” and has studied Art History and then graduating with a MA in Anthropology of Art at China Academy of Art in Beijing. Recently she completed her second MA degree in Art Education from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. As an artist, art historian and anthropologist, Marina’s quest is to understand art from different perspectives. During the last two years of studies in Art Education, Marina gained substantial experience working with both children and adults in diverse educational settings including Schools, Museums and Community Centers. Marina is very enthusiastic now about sharing her artistic journey with the Edmo family.

I consider both processes and products important. I will strive for my students to have a fun and productive summer at the Camp Edmo Community.”

Devon Simon – Counselor

This is Devon’s first year at Camp Edmo. She is originally from the Bay Area but is currently living in Colorado because she attends the University of Colorado, Boulder. She is getting a double degree in Film Studies and Film Production. Devon is an avid volunteer at the Boulder Valley Humane Society where she gets to play with puppies all day! One day she hopes to be standing on the stage at the Oscars receiving an award for best motion picture. Devon loves doing yoga, hiking, eating sushi, and being around animals.

This summer is going to be an adventure! I know it will be one I will never forget.”

Tom Yaron – Counselor

Tom is joining the Camp Edmo staff for the first time this year. A native of Mountain View, CA and Boulder, CO, Tom spent a good deal of his childhood traveling and sampling various summer camps. As a longtime coach of string quartets and youth orchestras, Tom has developed a love for teaching music to the young. He also holds a serious passion for music, airplanes, and computer games. Tom is currently studying violin performance at the University of California at Santa Barbara where he spends all of his time locked up in a practice room (or so he’d like you to believe).
